Lack of space is of the biggest challenges for startup companies experiencing rapid growth. Since 2010, Influitive has moved each year to accommodate a continuously growing team (today there are 130 employees at the Toronto HQ)! But you’d be wrong to assume they hate moving; each transition has brought exciting improvements around the office. We recently toured Influitive’s 30,000 square foot space in T.O to learn more about advocate marketing and the company culture backing this success.
So, what is so great about working for Influitive?
First of all, every employee is a shareholder.
“Everyone is an owner; we all have stakes in the company. So we treat it that way and are very interested in the company’s growth and worth.” –Tylor McIntosh, Sales Development Manager
This is an excellent model that encourages employees to get involved with the company on a larger spectrum. Everyone has shared interests and employees are personally invested in the company’s success.
It’s very transparent (literally).
The glass walls aren’t the only transparent thing at Influitive. With shared ownership comes open communication about financial information and business success. This way everyone knows how business is going. When companies are secretive about the numbers they are actually alienating their employees.
Strong support for personal growth.
“I love the fact that Influitive supports developers by providing a training budget, tools and time to attend conferences.” -Teresa Chu, Full Stack Developer
Influitive facilitates opportunities for employees to develop career-building skills, something that is particularly valuable in the tech-sector. A training budget also encourages employees to stay ahead of the game and produce quality work. Really, it’s investing back into the company.
An exciting and open community
Influitive’s community is diverse, inclusive, and vibrant. They frequently host community events including MARKET, FinTechToronto, developer meet-ups, customer success workshops, and open all their doors for Startup Open House. Employees host all sorts of clubs and activities on a daily basis, and constantly raise money for and donate time to a variety of charities and non-profit organizations.
Virtual reality and board games
Nadia joined Influitive 4 years ago (with only a team of 14) and noticed people playing board games on day one. She is now a self-proclaimed board game addict. They also have virtual reality video games and a ping pong table for when it’s break time.
